About Me
My name is Mariana and I am a Community Manager. I have a BA degree in ICT and a Masters degree based on the same subject, both granted by the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Tirana. For the past three years I have been heavily involed with the use and promotion of the Open Source philosophy.
I am fluent in Albanian, Greek and English. I enjoy working with diverse groups of people as I consider them more productive and very beneficial for both the organisation and the individuals.
Projects
Open Labs is a community which promotes free and open source technologies, open data, open technological standards, online privacy and powering public domain and alternative licenses of creative works such as Creative Commons.
Since 2016 I am a members of Open Labs Hackerspace. At Open Labs I have been involed with the organisation of several open source related events (from small meet ups to larger conferences). At the Open Labs community I have learnt a lot regarding the open source philosophy, online privacy and the importance of open data and open govermental startegies. All the above, both in theory and in practice.
Starting from December 2017 I am a board member of the community. Board members are the legal representatices of the community, which legally is a Non Profit Organisation (NGO). As a board member, I have learnt a lot on how organisations are run, how to respect the frame regarding NGO’s and how to communicate more effectivelly with people.
The Fedora Project is a project sponsored by Red Hat primarily to co-ordinate the development of the Linux-based Fedora operating system, operating with the vision that the project "creates a world where free culture is welcoming and widespread, collaboration is commonplace, and people control their content and devices.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences (FNS) is the leading center in Albania for the preparation of top specialists in computing, mathematics, physics, chemistry, industrial chemistry, biology, biotechnology.
During my BA degree at the Faculty of Natural Sciences I learn the fundamentals of Information Technology, stating from the first automatic computations during the 20th century until today. With diverse classes which combined math, coding, project management and security I was able to use these gained skills afterwards to enter the IT world.

During my MA, with help from my professors I was able to focus more on the needs an organization might have from the IT perspective. With classes that included Business Intelligence (BI), user interface analysis, e-commerce, security and more I was able to understand better how important it is to use IT for the best of an organization.
